Hello BCP Family!
I hope this message finds you well, in good health, and taking seriously the guidelines of social distancing put forth by the CDC.
The state of Florida issued a press release yesterday that indicates that students will be out of school until at least April 15. We are expecting this leave of absence to extend beyond April 15, but for now, we know that students will be home for the next month.
Teachers have been reaching out to you and your children to stay connected, and to express how much we care. Establishing and maintaining contact will be critical in the coming weeks (and potentially months) of distance learning, so please be sure to reach out to your teacher if you haven’t heard from them yet, and be responsive when they reach out to you. We are working with our tech providers to come up with a chromebook distribution strategy to support families who need them. We will do all that we can to support, but cannot promise chromebooks for every student. For that reason, we are asking only those families who do not have a chromebook or computer or tablet at home to participate. Once we finalize the strategy for the distribution, we’ll send another update with specifics. Please stay posted.
Please see the press release from the Governor’s office yesterday. The highlights of this press release are below:
- School will be out statewide longer than was originally anticipated;
- Statewide testing will be canceled for the 2019-20 school year. Students will not sit for any FSA, FCAT, SAT10 or EOC assessments this school year. and;
- Schools should be prepared to extend the school year through June 30, if that becomes necessary.
