Earning a credit will require students to successfully master grade-level standards for each core and elective course taken. True mastery means that a student can earn a “B” in a course, however, earning a “C” will qualify a student to earn a credit. Students who earn “C”s will be placed on a support plan because we believe that “C”s define mediocrity, and not excellence.
Grade Point Average Expectations
It is expected that every middle school student at BCP leaves with a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher. This means that they are averaging a “B” through all of their coursework. There is absolutely no reason a middle school student cannot average a 3.0, and we hold our kids accountable to that belief. This expectation will prepare students for high school, when the GPA truly counts and has implications for their future.
Students with cumulative GPA’s lower than 3.0 will be placed on academic probation, and our school-based leadership team will work in concert with the family and student to develop a plan for recovery.
