Once the school year is up and running, it can be difficult to keep up. It may be hard to know what to prioritize to help your child best.
Children are very intuitive and find the most success when parents and teachers are on the same page and have regular communication. This could look like a weekly email, attending parent/teacher conferences or meetings and reading communications that come home from school.
Fulfilling basic needs at home can also set students up for success. Helping them get ready for school and having a healthy breakfast can start the day off right.
Finally, asking students about their day using open ended questions such as, “What was your favorite part of today?” or “What was something good and something bad that happened today?” This can help you keep the lines of communication open between you and your child while helping you stay informed about their day.
